geocgi performs regular sUAS exercises to ensure complete proficiency with our sUAS hardware, systems, and processes which are necessary for refining our sUAS program best practices. Over the last 18 months, we have teamed with the George Mason University (GMU) department of Geography and Geoinformation Sciences for other events. geocgi spent the day flying GMU athletic fields alongside students, GMU Police and Forensics departments, and an officer from the Fairfax County Police Department Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) unit. Events such as these provide geocgi’s sUAS team with exposure and opportunities for training which are vital for the progress of the program which now boasts a crew of eight certified FAA Part 107 sUAS pilots, with four more in waiting, and a fleet of multirotor and fixed-wing aircraft systems.
